1968 Honda S800 M Coupe

  • Rare left-hand drive model
  • Fully restored domestically
  • Excellent condition
  • Equipped with "RSC wheels" replicas

This vehicle is an example delivered to Honda Belgium, specified as the Honda S800 M Coupe with left-hand drive. The Honda S800 M Coupe was originally produced as a model for export, and only convertible S800 Ms were sold in Japan. In that sense, this particular unit can be considered a highly rare "S800".

What's particularly noteworthy is that this car has undergone thorough restoration in Japan. Both interior and exterior have been meticulously restored to its original condition, ensuring it looks as if it just rolled off the production line despite being over 50 years old.

Additionally, it's fitted with replicas of RSC wheels, presenting itself as a rare gem that appears as it did when it was first introduced.
Honda's S Series marked a significant shift for Honda, being known predominantly as a two-wheel manufacturer to becoming a global leader of four-wheel production, starting with the attention-grabbing S360, then the mass-produced S500, and progressing through the S600 to reach the pinnacle, the S800.

Inheriting its core performance from the S500, the S800 boasted a 791cc water-cooled 4-cylinder DOHC engine producing 69hp. It achieved a top speed of 160km/h, setting a benchmark in the small sports car segment globally at the time.
The engine featured a 4-carburetor setup, an exhaust manifold, and a modular crankshaft assembly, leveraging Honda's expertise in high-revving motorcycle design. Its ability to rev smoothly to high RPMs showcased Honda's prowess as a global engine manufacturer.

Another allure of the S Series lies in its lightweight, compact body. In the 1960s, when small sports cars were popular worldwide, the S Series stood out with its refined compact body design and exceptional agility, garnering attention from sports car enthusiasts globally.

The S800 M Coupe weighed just 720kg, translating directly to impressive handling. Coupled with its high-performance engine and a smooth-shifting 4-speed fully synchronized manual transmission, it offered drivers a linear driving experience, embodying the joy of driving a sports car.
The bulging engine hood, a trademark of the S800, proudly reflects Soichiro Honda's vision of an ideal small sports car. Thus, the S800 was truly Honda’ vision realized in its final form.
